Find Kane County Traffic Tickets

Start a Kane County traffic ticket search with the court named on the citation itself. The clerk of that court holds the record, and a Kane County traffic ticket lookup can reveal the charge, the hearing date, any plea entered, and the balance due. Kanab and Orderville both host justice courts, so the right office depends on where the officer filed the case. Check the docket first. Then confirm any live hearing with the clerk, because paying, contesting, and requesting a plea in abeyance follow separate tracks with different deadlines.

Kane County Traffic Court Records

One court handles most of the traffic docket here. Kane County Justice Court serves unincorporated Kane County plus Kanab and Alton. Its reach covers traffic, wildlife, boating, off-highway vehicle, snowmobile, trucking, class B and C misdemeanor, infraction, ordinance, and small-claims cases. Orderville or Glendale tickets go a different way. Those take the Orderville Municipal Justice Court instead. Big Water Municipal Justice Court dissolved on December 31, 2022. Its open cases moved into the Kane County Justice Court. So knowing the location matters as much as the citation number.

Utah names its chronological public view a case history. Expect entries for the violation date, the charge, a plea, proceedings, hearings, the judgment, the disposition, and account activity. A traffic citation often carries code TN, while a traffic court case may use TC. The clerk of the court involved keeps that record.

Kane County Citation Portal

The county links to a CORIS citation and payment page. Pick your court and type the citation or court case number. Kane County and XChange both warn that a number is unique only within one location, so check the displayed name before you pay.

The clerk is still the fallback when a new citation has not posted.

Looking Up a Traffic Ticket

Confirm the exact court before you pay for any search. Citations usually reach the system within five days, and manual filing can run longer. A blank result right after issuance proves nothing either way.

  1. Read the citation for the court, citation number, violation date, and response instructions.
  2. Use the county CORIS page when the ticket points to Kane County Justice Court and online payment is allowed.
  3. Search Utah Courts XChange with Justice Court jurisdiction, Kane County, exact court, and citation number.
  4. Call Kane County Justice Court at 435-644-2351 or Orderville at 435-648-2534 if no result appears.
  5. Ask about a free courthouse XChange terminal or visit the applicable clerk counter.
  6. Confirm the hearing and deadline with the issuing court.

MyCase is free, but only for a party's own eligible case after identity checks, and it is not a public search tool. Utah eFile handles filings, not traffic lookups.

Kane County Traffic Caseload

Traffic ruled the FY2022 caseload at Kane County Justice Court. The official report counted 1,330 traffic-citation filings and 518 traffic-court-case filings. That makes 1,849 traffic filings in all. Dispositions reached 1,805, a 98 percent clearance rate. Treat these as historical court figures rather than a current 2026 count. Clearance measures dispositions against filings; it says nothing about convictions.

Volume like that is why court-location filters and a direct call to the clerk save so much time in Kane County.

How to Find Your Traffic Court Date

The date on your citation may be a response deadline, not a trial date. Utah court calendars cover two weeks and refresh daily. Kane County Justice Court holds hearings on Tuesdays at 9:00 a.m. Mountain Time and posts its current Webex route. Even so, a case can call for another step or an in-person appearance. The Kanab schedule PDF linked from the county site can go stale. So verify the live setting with the clerk.

Do not confuse the filing date, violation date, disposition date, and next hearing date.

Kane County Plea in Abeyance

Kane County offers a local plea-in-abeyance process, but only for a narrow band of cases. The criteria allow one class C misdemeanor or infraction, no accident, no commercial driver's license, no more than one violation in the prior year, no Kane PIA in the prior two years, and speeding no more than 20 miles per hour over outside a school zone. The court still decides eligibility.

Move fast if you want it. Requests must land within 20 days, a $50 addition applies after 20 days, and anything past 40 days gets rejected. The PIA fee runs $25 above the recommended fine, plus any online fee. Over the six-month term you must finish approved school, file a certificate, submit a driving-history report afterward, and pick up no new citation. Paying before the order can kill the request. The official PIA terms spell it all out.

Process: Request › order › compliance › proof › eligible dismissal.

Pay or Contest a Ticket

Online payment works only for eligible bail-forfeiture citations with no mandatory appearance, or cases where the person has appeared and been sentenced. A payment can close the case outright. If the instructions are unclear or a PIA request is pending, call the court before you pay.

Kane County Docket Codes

An XChange result can list the court, case number, type, filing date, charge, plea, disposition, judge, attorney, agency, officer, citation number, violation date, proceedings, documents, and the account summary. A short docket entry is never the filed paper itself.

BF
Bail forfeiture.
PA or AP
Plea in abeyance.
FP
Fine paid.
D, DW, or PW
Dismissal variants.
XA, XP, or XT
Expungement-related codes, not an automatic PIA result.

Some documents cost extra, and private, sealed, juvenile, and expunged records stay outside ordinary public results.

Traffic Court Record vs Driving Record

A court record and a Utah driving record are two different files. The clerk of court keeps the citation case, while the Driver License Division keeps the administrative driving history. A law-enforcement file sits apart from both.

Kane County Resolution Routes

Kane County has two ways to pause a traffic case. They are not the same thing. The local option is a plea in abeyance handled by Kane County Justice Court. It comes with its own request form, eligibility terms, added fee, course work, and proof. Utah's Deferred Traffic Prosecution program is the statewide version, open only to qualifying moving violations. Finding your case in an online docket does nothing to start either one. Court approval, not portal access, controls the outcome. Start with the court named on the citation. Ask that clerk what options exist before you pay a dime. Paying before the judge enters a Kane County plea-in-abeyance order can cancel the request. It can also count as a conviction on the criminal docket. If you plan to fight the charge, get the setting instructions instead. The payment screen is not the only door.

Big Water Traffic Docket Shift

Big Water is a lesson in why old court names matter. Its municipal justice court closed on December 31, 2022. Utah Judicial Council materials moved that caseload to Kane County Justice Court. In FY2022 the old court reported 140 filings and 129 dispositions, and dissolution materials described roughly 752 cases over the prior five years. Those numbers are history now. No court there accepts new cases. For a later Big Water citation, start with Kane County Justice Court and match the location shown in the case record. An older XChange docket search can still surface a former location, since closing a court does not erase its public case history. When a transfer-era entry looks confusing, call the Kane County clerk. A quick call can separate a historical Big Water docket from a current Kane County filing and stop you from paying down the wrong road.

Copies and Fees

The Kane County Justice Court clerk sits at 76 N Main Street, Kanab, UT 84741, while the Orderville court uses P.O. Box 165, Orderville, UT 84758. Call ahead before any long rural drive. Many district courthouses and some justice court sites offer free XChange terminals, and a written request under Rule 4-202.04 can ask for a specific public record from the court file.

Record fees are separate from traffic fines. Under Rule 4-202.08, paper copies run $0.25 per sheet. Fax or email delivery costs $5 for up to 10 pages, then $0.50 per extra page. An FTR Cloud recording is $10. XChange charges $10 for up to 10 searches in one transaction, plus $1 per document. Staff time is free for the first 15 minutes, so ask the clerk for an estimate before ordering copies.

Public access: Public court records are presumed accessible under Utah court rules, but seals and private classifications still control.

A certified copy is yours if you can access the record, describe it well enough to find, and pay the fee. The court usually answers within 10 business days. That window allows for review, retrieval, and payment.
